Start your Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage in California!
How to receive your Transitory Certificate of Distance:
Complete your pilgrimage by walking at least 30 kilometers (18.65 miles) along the Camino de California and finishing at one of the 21 California Missions. See the Resources tab above if you need assistance with how to do this.
Document your pilgrimage using a Pilgrim Passport (available at most Mission Gift Stores) obtaining at least two stamps per day, showing your progress in order to meet the requirements of the Pilgrim Office in Santiago. Note: if stamps are not available, a digital photo of landmarks along the way may be submitted in lieu. If you are not using a Camino de California passport, please include the following certification:
I hereby certify on my honor as a pilgrim that I have devotedly journeyed in pilgrimage along the Camino de California, having walked at least 30 kilometers (18.65 miles), starting at ________________ and finishing at ________________ (destination Mission).
Please include dates and your email address where you would like your certificate sent.
Scan (phone photo ok) a copy of your completed Pilgrim Passport to pilgrim@caminodecalifornia.org. Your Transitory Certificate of Distance will be emailed back to you. Please allow sufficient time before leaving for your Spanish Camino, as we are a 100% volunteer organization.
Print out your certificate. Carry it with you and upon completion of your Camino de Santiago pilgrimage, present the certificate and California pilgrim passport at the Pilgrim Office in Santiago, along with your Camino de Santiago pilgrim passport. If needed, you can mention that the Camino de California is part of the Camino de las Americas.
BUEN CAMINO!
